BTH headlamp reflector plating?

Hi all,

Sorry to bombard the forum with seemingly silly questions but Im just getting a some parts to be plated and I jut came across the headlamp reflector not looking so "reflectory". So I was just wondering would this part be Nickel plated??

BTW thanks to one member with providing me a list of the engine parts that should be plated.. They will be sent of soon..

      The headlamp reflector is not finished by nickel plating but may have an initial nickel plate finish after preparation to provide better adhesion for the finish coating of silver. There is also a process using a vacuum chamber and ion transfer using an electric current that is sometimes used. I am not sure of the details. There used to be a well known specialist who advertised this process in the Old Bike Mart who made a lovely job of one of mine. The next time I needed his services his wife answered the phone to tell me that he had died. Some of the Bike chrome platers also advertise that they do silver plating of headlamp reflectors but I have no experience of their work. Chris.
