Hi Ian

I have a lot of spares for the E 29 600 c.c Douglas which may be identical to the E 28, including a crankshaft and a spare engine. The priced list is attached, post and packing extra. Hope this is of interest and can get you on the road. I have two Dougies - 1932 A 32 and a 1951 Mk. 5.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul, note sure how similar they are - anyone comment on whether the 29 stuff would be the same ?

Ian,

The crankshafts are the same. There are only a few detail differences between the 1928 and 1929 engines. The most visible is a change for 1929 is the timing cover and a switch to an corbel mounted Enots sight glass for the oiling system. Less noticeable is the cylinder castings changes slightly around the tappet chest to close off the bottom. With the exception of carburetors updating to the 1929 offerings, I think most everything else on the engine remained the same.

Hi Ian

Thanks for your mail.

(1) Spare Engine -  this has been rebuilt and the crank is OK. The engine number is EH 806. which puts it at at 1927 or 1928 since it has an outward facing oil sight - as Doug says the 1929 had a rear facing oil sight mounted on a corbel. The EH series were only manufactured between 1927 and 1929.

(2) The worn crankshaft - this is complete with two con-rods, The taper is a bit worn with some minor ridging that would probably clean up, but the opposite end has been rogered a bit by the inept use of a club hammer!

If you want  spares it would probably be cicumspect to have both.

Regards

Paul
