First time & Front chainguard CW
« on: 18 Jul 2010 at 18:23 »
Hello you all,

for allready more than 20 years I am a Douglas motorcycle owner and also member of the LDmcc. But I am new on this forum, I find it very interesting to reed all the conversation on the forum, and like to join. But it will not be easy for me to take part and respond, but I wil give it a try. And excuse me, my englisch is n't that good.

At this moment I am trying to complete my wifes 1925 CW. What still is missing is a front chaingard, I have no idea how it looks and how it's fitted. Does someone have one for sale, or a photograph or drawing of it, so I can produce one?

Regards Leo

Hi Leo,

If you go onto the members gallery section and type CW into the search it will bring up all of the pictures of CW's on the site.

Hope this helps,

Best regards, Nick

Hi,

Thanks Nick and Martin for the information and drawing you send. I was surprised that these still exsist. Now I can try to produce one.
The only question I have on the moment is how it's mounted on the front side to the engine?

Regards Leo

Hi Leo
Amongst the original works drawings there are two designs of chain guard shown for the CW25. I have never seen the one shown above actually fitted to a CW. My CW has the alternative design. I'm not sure how to load it here. Perhaps Martin will be kind enough to show it. Chris.

Hi All
The two other chain guards in the drawings are for the rear, Leo is asking about the front chain guard. but I will load them anyway as I'm sure others will be interested.

Hi Leo and Martin
Apologies: my mistake I had not checked the dimensions of the alternative drawings. My primary chain guard does look more like one of the rears, although smaller, than the front primary chain guard shown and I have never seen one with the flat back panel. Perhaps I ought now to modify mine. Chris.
