What does a broken piston look like ?

When the exhaust valve wont open and then you take flat pieces of cast iron out of the exhaust access plug, I guess that means the piston is in pieces ?

     I think that your solution is correct. I would also not be surprised if you had a lack of compression on that cylinder as well if you are able to turn the engine. Chris.

Unfortunately I cant turn the engine over :(
And even worse, because I've only had the bike a week, I dont have any manuals to assist my investigations.
Recommendations on the best documantation for a '13 bike would be most welcome just now, expecially if there are any downloads that could help me in my first douglas dismantling endeavours.
Oh, and recommendations on parts supply would be good too.
It was going so nicely just before it stopped going
