Dimensions of Oil Control Rings - T35
« on: 27 Jul 2009 at 16:45 »
I'm trying to replace a broken oil control ring in my T35. I unfortunately have misplaced the broken pieces and would prefer not to take the bike out of service and risk breaking the remaining good one to measure it. Can anyone provide me with the correct dimensions, especially thickness (height) and depth (difference between inner and outer diameter) for an oil control ring to fit a Hepolite +.030 piston for a 1947 T35?

In case you were wondering, the bike is still in service because I was able to cobble together a makeshift ring out of pieces from Honda and Suzuki rings. They function, but not well, hence the request for specs. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,
I have just measured an oil control ring from a brand new +.020 Hepolite piston and the dimensions are:
                Width    .156"
                Depth    .090"
As far as I am aware, the depth remains the same, irrespective of the oversize.

      Hope this helps,
                                Regards,
                                               Eddie.

With all the support that you and the other active authorities on the forum give to the rest of us, it's a wonder you have any time to work on your own bikes.

Thanks so much.
