Yes Alan - I purchased the bike in the 1970's in a partly dismantled condition. A gearbox pinion was broken in three pieces, not having the facilities to mill a new one I turned a blank and hand made a gear with internal spline, heat treated it and has done many miles since reassembly -  the gearbox was filled with a grease/oil/graphite mixture. This bike was the first Historic registration number `100 ' in Queensland.

The trip down to MossVale for the rally has renewed my enthusiasm to fix the engine problems and have it mobile again.

Managed to pick up one of those 4 speed boxes at Gatton 2 swaps back condition unknown not for sale but if ever you are desperate let me know   You probably remember that my interests are mainly 1914 to 1930 anything else is mainly a curio.     Is that pusher you had still available when the old Doug is a hard starter?  My rego 212 still have the 2 issued plates

Hi Al  - the tank mounted instrument panel has one original gauge, Lucas ammetre, the head and tail switch is Lucas but I can't find any markings on the trouble/dash light switch. The head light is large and is also Lucas. Two small brass switches are on each side of the handlebars, one for horn other kill button. The engine is fitted with a BTH magy, with the generator in front and chain driven from inside the timing case. The name plates are original. All these were on the bike when I purchased it.  I made the tool boxes and number plate bracket, the tail lamp with some modification was a dash lamp on an endloader, I am not sure now of make maybe Case.

The panel switch and lamp (Lucas) are the same as used on the 1934-35 instrument panels that were recessed into the petrol tank (rather than perched on top.) I suspect the oil pressure gage used in 1934-35 (Eureka) was likely the same as use in 1933. Not sure about the ammeter, but it was probably Lucas like the switch and lamp.

I have some other D33 pictures taken in the UK that I need to post.

You have done us proud with your extra pics dont know if you know Arbie H at Maroochydore  he has I think a 750 around 1934 could be sporting the same panel for comparison His full particulars are probably in the LD register.    Be warned he loves a chat and he is a vigorous hand shaker count your fingers if you meet him   Al

Hello All I bring this subject forward to the forum so that the OHV model in discussion can be compared with what my Mate Phil believes that 33 models are very rareand you can see the 33 tank with its instrument panel is far different.    regards Alan

With regard to Doug's second photo and comment about the chain guard, There was a D33 at this years Douglas rally in Stow.
Which was fitted with a fully enclosed chain just like the one in the photo, I am of the belief that this is correct for the D33.
Sorry I didn't get any photos myself but I'm sure there were others that did.
