S6 Ma problems
« on: 05 Jul 2009 at 17:39 »
My S6 starts first kick from cold, runs on front and splutters on the rear and cuts out after a short while.i have taken the rear plug out and run up the engine on the front only, the spark is not constant and when the engine cutting out the spark is lost. i have changed around the leads and caps, replaced the bushes HT/Mag. checked and readjusted/ changed points. Striped the mag down , cleaned and inspected the same (after which it seemed to run fine, but after a short ride the bike cut out and i had to push home. Any ideas anyone ?

Simon,
Take the magneto off the bike, try turning the armature by hand. There should be a noticable drag just before the points open - if not, then it probably needs remagnetising. If there is noticable drag but no spark, then the condenser has probably failed, and will have to be replaced. Unfortunately, this is a job for the experts.
                          Regards,
                                        Eddie.
