Hi Guys

I completed the refubishment of this bike in March 2009. The electrics are not completely original but as close as I could get with replica parts and bits from motorcycle jumbles. Nevertheless it runs well and I am pleased with the result.

I am known as "Podge" on the net, located in Surrey, England.

Cheers

Paul

Paul,

Did you fit the cylinders and heads from a 1934-35 model, or machine the crankcase flat on the bottom to fit the entire '34-35 engine?

Hi Doug

The engine was rebuilt by Henry Body for a previous owner. The engine number is EV 315 which puts it at 1931, and he used the later barrels and heads - the bike is a bit of a dog's breakfast! But runs well.

Cheers

Paul

Very nice machine Paul.
If it goes as well as it looks, I'm sure it is a lovely bike.
Cheers, Graeme

... have exchanged messages with 'podge' on the forum and would like him to see these photos that I took at the recent Bristol Motor Cycle Show at Shepton Mallet. (Including one showing the famous Henry Body who I believe is around 94 years old.)

Many thanks. John

Nice pics. Henry is getting on in years, but I think he is well shy of 94!

Hi
I believe Henry is only 76, but still exceeding 94 at the quarter mile from a standing start on his 1926 Douglas.  Chris.

Hi,
Henry is 76 later this year, and at most meetings still manages to get in at least 1 run at around the 104 mph mark. This year, he celebrates 60 years of competitive motorcycling!
