I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

I was wondering if any of you have a box of spare flywheel/clutch parts sitting your shelf that might fit a 1926 EW?

Here is my shopping list...

1) Washer with tabs (x1)

2) Screws that secure the round plate to the inside face of the flywheel. Whitworth thread of 7/32" with a shallow countersunk head. (x3)

3) Pins that hold the sprocket to the clutch disk. (x4)

4) Screws that hold the round steel dust guard to the outside of the flywheel. These have domed heads but I don't know the thread size. (x2)

A picture speaks a thousand words...

Hi Dave,Re parts item 3 I used welding rod with the weld part scraped off it is a mild steel so cut them to size the burred the over lightly. Not being a perfectionist where I couldn't source nuts bolts screws etc I tapped out etc and used more common present day thread sizes.I was lucky with the tab washer but I'm sure a good machinist could run one up for you its a very simple item.I am finding with Douglas restoration its a matter of compromise and so I have adopted as it long as it works attitude this may or may not reduce the resale value should my family when I finally leave this world decide to sell the bike.

The counter sunk screws....I had 8 manufactured recently. Cant tell you how much they cost...as they were made as a job lot with some other components.  Anyway call Drew or Terry at Heritage Motor works tel 01189731631 [not far from Reading] . Tell them Bill put you on to them...and they will know the screws..... they did not actually make them ..its one of their contacts.

Next week probably Wednesday I am going to their place to pick up my new petrol/oil tank..I will get the details of the screws for you if you wish.

By the way....they can make any piece of tinware ...from mudguards, petrol tanks tool boxes...chassis for cars etc. They have made me a new tank and they used the old corroded one as the pattern. Not actually seen the finished paint job yet but when I saw it last week primered up it looked good. They come recommended. They actually restored/repaired several tanks damaged on manx Nortons/AJS 7Rs etc from the fire damage bikes from the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham

Cheers
Bill

The four domed screws for the tin ring are 7/32-27. The eight flat-head screws that hold the backing plate on are 7/32-24 BSW.
