1947 T35 Douglas

Hello

I recently aquired this beauty -  1947 T35 Douglas. I am going to take it to an antique show this weekend and I have no idea of what it's value is. Is there anyone who can help me with an appraisal? It's in great shape, but not running. It is missing some parts including the rubber tank pads, tail light, kick-stand, mirror and battery case. Any other information on it would be appreciated as well.

Hi Jason,
               That's a tidy T35 that you have found! As you say, there are some parts missing - but if you join the London Douglas Motorcycle Club (www.douglasmotorcycles.co.uk), the spares scheme will be able to help with most of the missing parts. From the photos, it looks as if it has been fitted with a non-standard fuel tank, so genuine Douglas kneepads may not fit. Also, you say the bike is a 1947 model, but the engine is from a later model (1949 - 54). There should also be a toolbox above the gearbox - on the two straps below the back of the fuel tank. If you go to the LDMCC website, there are photos of the varous models for reference.

Looks like a Mk3 engine as Eddie said an engine number and frame no would help identify further the countershaft cover is missing as well but all these things are normal for these bikes and London club have a great spares scheme although they don't have everything but your bike is in very good nick we also have a member in Canada and i know they are very rare there as America and Canada didn't import very many at all

I also have a 1947 T35. I'm located in Nova Scotia. I have photos and dimensions for the missing toolbox you need and although it is not surplus to my needs, I have the cast aluminum transmission output drive cover, which would be easy to duplicate in fibreglas. I can also send you detailed photos of my bike which is mostly, but not perfectly correct.

Where are you and where did you find a Douglas in Canada?
