ACT Rally

Last weekend was the ACT annual rally which has been mentioned previously on the forum. There were six Douglas machines entered and another non-runner turned up on a trailer. The ACT club did a great job as usual of organising the rally and we all had a great time. Unfortunately Ian Barges had a slight teething problem with his recently restored EW but otherwise all the Douglases ran well. I have attached pictures of some of the machines in attendance.
A highlight of the weekend was the TS owned by Frank which had not run for at least 20 years. It looked complete and in good nick so Graeme and I decided to pull it apart on the Sunday afternoon and see if we could get it running. We ended up with a crowd of about 30 people watching and it duly fired into life on the second pull of the back wheel - to the cheers of the watching crowd. None more happy than Frank who is now happily filling out his entry form for the ADCR.

I think the EW just ran out of spark.  It ran very well up the hill out of town and then down to Sutton.  After Sutton the headwind hit me and eventually it got slower and slower, so I think its run out of spark.  Most likely a maggy rebuild coming up soon.  You know your day is over when a 1907 single rumbles past you like you are standing still...
