Lamp for 1934-35 instrument panel
« on: 27 Mar 2007 at 23:17 »
Need a instrument/inspection lamp for a 1934-35 Douglas instrument panel. Goes in the vacant hole as indicated by the arrow. I believe it is a standard Lucas lamp as used on other panel mounted instrument panels of the era, like Triumph and Ariel. I just need the removable lamp, as I have the base still riveted to the panel (they were unable to steal that), but I have a friend also restoring a '35 Douglas, and he has a lamp but is missing the base. So if a complete lamp and base were to be available, then two Douglas owners would be helped out.

Here are pictures from a 1934 Douglas of the desired lamp-

There is a firm in the UK that can supply these lamps fully restored. They cost quite a lot as they are now very rare items. Unfortunately as I am abroad at present, I have no access to my records and from memory cannot recall their name.
If a solution has not been found by the time I return to UK at end of April, I will endeavour to inform you of the source. Chris.

HI Chris
Old post but I want to return to this topic. Do you have details about this company in UK who supply these lamps on panel tank?
I will be grateful for any answer.

Best regards Artur

Evening Artur
Looking on the net tonight, these people seem to be advertising replicated brass Lucas lamps of the type you are looking for.
imaginemotorcycles.com.ar
cornucopia-enterprises.de have also sold them in the past, currently out of stock but may be worth dropping them a mail.
