There has been a whole host of books covering the early years when the Dirt Track Douglas ruled the roost.
Tempus Publishing Ltd has published a few and while The Vintage Speedway Magazine has been involved in publishing the book on Fay Taylour.  A book was published in Australia which had some photos from the early days.

The UK publishers both have web sites.

Tempus Publishing here.

Do you refer to Queen of Speedway by Brian Belton or another? There is no acknowledgement of involvement by The Vintage Speedway Magazine in the former.

A book was published in Australia which had some photos from the early days.

Can you quote title and/or source of this book please?

There is a list of books available on the Vintage Speedway Magazine site here.  (See footnote before attempting to obtain books from this site. A. 07/12/06)

Footnote: The link above to Vintage Speedway Magazine has been found to be to an old abandoned site - contact with the owner Peter Lipscomb cannot be made via the site. Tony McDonald of Retro Speedway has advised "He (speaking of Lipscomb) has long since emigrated to Thailand, having transferred the magazine rights to us and his old website has been inactive for years. Really, the previous owners should have made it clear that the site you visited is no longer active, but that is unfortunately out of my hands."

Other books about speedway are available from Retro Speedway

Then just what was the involvement in the book by the Vintage Speedway Magazine? - and what was the Australian publication you refer to?

None in Fay Taylour book - I thought it was one of theirs but I was wrong.

I've asked Graeme Frost from Adelaide to get in touch re Aussie book.

I think the Australian book being referred to is "A History of Australian Speedway" by Jim Shepherd. Published by Frew Publications in 2003. It was sold in newsagents at the time. It is a superb book - well worth seeking out.

G'day all
I have been emailing Greame Frost for a couple of years, helping each other in small ways along the way.
He has just emailed a link to me that will be of interest.

It lists the championships.
Alwyn...did you get those advertising blocks?
Howard.
