Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Peter Davey who is involved with the ACT club (and has a Douglas) informed me that the ACT rally over the Australia Day weekend next year is having Douglas as its feature marque (must have been in awe of my 2.75hp that I took this year ). It would be great to see lots of Douglases on the run - you could use it to make sure your machines are running well in time for the Centenary Rally !!

As mentioned, I went on the run this year and rode my little Douglas and veteran Triumph so there are no problems with the runs being too hard. .... Ian

Hi all,
Further to Ian's post above the following is a transcript of a message received today from Peter Davey...

Australian Douglas Centenary Rally
Dear Alwyn
I have pre-registered for the rally and my full registration will follow shortly. I have just started restoration of my 1948 MK3S so the push is on to have it ready and I am registering in anticipation of achieving this. I am writing to you to extend an invitation to you and all Douglas riders to the Annual Rally of the ACT VVC MCC from January 26th to 28th 2007. The reason I am specifically sending you this invitation is because our club always has a feature marque or configuration of motorcycle and has this year selected for the feature marque the Douglas in celebration of the Centenary. Entry forms will soon be available on the website at www.vvcmcc.org . I would appreciate it it you could alert entrants to the Centenary Rally of this event. It may prove to be a useful fettling opportunity and we would be very pleased to welcome Douglas riders in particular but historic motorcycle riders in general. Many thanks Peter Davey

As both Peter and Ian have mentioned, it is a "useful fettling opportunity" to prepare for our own Douglas Centenary Rally to follow in April - we urge you to attend if you can and will monitor the vvcmcc website and post breaking news here for information.

Hi all,
The Veteran Vintage & Classic Motor Cycle Club (ACT, inc.) has forwarded the latest information about their Thirtieth Annual Rally, a three day event to be held at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 January 2007.

As advised in the earlier postings, VV&CMCC President Bill Lewis confirms in his writings that "This year, in addition to welcoming our regular participants, we are offering a special welcome to riders and owners of Douglas motorbikes to celebrate 100 years of the marque."

Full rally information and the Entry Form in .pdf format can be downloaded HERE.

Users are advised that they need to have Adobe Reader loaded on their system to be able to read and print the documents. The latest version of Adobe Reader is available for free download here.

To ensure your eligibility to participate in the VV&CMCC Rally it is recommended you also download and read this document which outlines a legal requirement that the club with which you are personally affiliated gives recognition to the VV&CMCC Rally as a ‘club-endorsed event’.  If in doubt refer the document to your club secretary for advice.

We commend the rally for your participation and enjoyment as an ideal precursor to the Australian Douglas Centenary Rally to be held in April 2007.

Is there anyone else entering the Douglas in this rally ? I am taking my TS to ride it on the short run and display day. Last year I rode it on the long run on the Sunday and it made it round OK - although this year I intend to ride my Empire Star on that day as the roads are so good !

If there are a few of us maybe we can organise a Douglas get together ?
