I would also be interested if anyone knows. I looked at this bike a while ago. The owner was a very interesting character - 91 year old ex WW2 Mosquito night fighter pilot - and also a pre-war English racing rider. Took 10 minutes to look at the bike and a couple of hours of very interesting discussion !!

It was a Bonham & Goodman sale. Results can be seen here at their website. But you will need to know the lot number, as there are no descriptions. But under 'calender' you can find catalogs, present and slightly past.

The catalog is here:
http://www.bonhamsandgoodman.com.au/auctions_catalogues.php?auction=37&offset=0#7

The lot description (which has less info!) is here:
http://www.bonhamsandgoodman.com.au/lot_details.php?lot=13427

And the results page is here (scroll down to "Sunday 23rd July- Collectors Cars and Automobilia and pick the "results" button):
http://www.bonhamsandgoodman.com.au/auctions_results.php

Or direct to the specific results (you will need Adobe Acrobat to view):
http://www.bonhamsandgoodman.com.au/files/auctions/37_sale_results.pdf

If you do not want to be bothered to follow the links, in summary: Estimate for lot 7 was AU$6000-8000. Sold for AU$7345.

And Bonham & Goodman's home site is here:

It doesn't end there. The Auctioneer's commission is usually another 15% to the buyer plus tax on the commission. So in the UK a hammer price of 7345 would require a sum of 8639 to get it out of the sale room. Chris.

Hi Chris,
Is that not the 'Buyer Premium' that is said to be included in the sale price of $7345 listed or is there yet another slug of 15%?

The sale price is usually the last price bid before the hammer falls as in effect this is the price achieved by the seller, (although there is also usually a sellers fee). So yes! another 15% buyers premium is added and in the UK, Vat at 17.5% is added to the 15%. Although it has to be said that not all auctioneers set their commission at 15%. Some are lower than this.

The results sheet does say "price includes buyer's premium", so that would indicate to me the auction house commission is included in the listed sale price.

Doug,
There is inconsistency here - sales prices lists for other of their auctions, including the more recent automobile sale, don't carry that note that says the Buyer Premium is included - I have asked Bonhams to clarify the point and will post their response when it is received.
