Australian Speedway Records Sought
« on: 29 May 2006 at 07:30 »
Hi all,
Does anyone have records of Australian National Speedway Championships entries and results for the years 1925 through 1935 or particularly the year 1929 that they would care to loan or provide me with copies of or point me in the right direction to find. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Alwyn

There's a club in Victoria which I've always been meaning to contact. These are the contact details I have 'though they were noted in 2001.

Historic Motorcycle Racing Ass’n of Victoria Inc
8 Todd Lane
Romsey VIC 3434
Contact: David Large, Secretary
Telephone: (054) 29 6367
Fax: (054) 29 6367

I'm not sure what they do, or what records they may have, but they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Yes Trevor - I know a little about Fay Taylour - she was an Irish lady who began her racing career in the UK c 1926 - 1927. She subsequently raced motorcycles and later speedcars in Australia and in Europe.

I am a preferred customer at Pitstop and will certainly investigate the book you have linked there.

If you come across anything else at all related to dirt-track racing in the era 1925 - 35, I would be pleased to hear of it. Thanks for your reponse.

Thanks Dave - I have been in touch with the HMRASA but not as yet the Victorian chapter - will certainly follow that up.

A couple of books published on Australian Speedway History in recent years - don't have titles or author names to hand. Email me on jjh1950@blueyonder.co.uk for details.

Hi Alwyn  Are you interested in photos of speedway in Brisbane 1949/1950. I have some from old Sat night programmes.  Regards Phil (Rossco).
