Douglas Center-Stand
« on: 02 Feb 2006 at 04:41 »
Hello,

I am in need of a center stand for a T35.  I am not holding my breath, but in the absence of a stand, a sketch with rough dimension would be helpful.

Thanks,
Dave

There is a link on this forum site here to the London Douglas Motor Cycle Club website where you will find an online membership application form or you can download a form for mailing to the Club. To obtain parts from the LDMCC it is necessary to join that club. Once having joined write to Eddie and Margaret Turner, 223 Butts Road, Scholing, Southhampton SO19 1BN, UK., to arrange your purchase. Eddie and Margaret manage the Spares Department for post 1945 models .

The LDMCC has a web site at http://www.douglasmotorcycles.co.uk/  but they do not appear to be very active on the web.

I strongly recommend that you join which will give you the usual club things such as a magazine and technical advice but also access to  factory records, (find out just when you bike was made, check matching numbers etc) transfers and of course a lot of spare parts new, new old and just old.

Money is not a problem if you send your credit card details and I have never had any concerns with them,  all sorts of bits and pieces including gasket sets, bearings, valves etc arrived in short order and for reasonable prices.

Ah oh Mr Wright,  did I see you are posting from the US?  I am not sure the LDMCC can send to you unfortunately due to the need for liability insurance when supplying to your country,  but I may be wrong. I am sure they will love to hear from you.

It depends upon the spares required. There has been an historic problem with liability insurance  in that it became increasingly difficult and expensive to obtain and eventually unobtainable from any source in respect of North America without premiums many multiples of the value of any sales. The view of the Federation of Historic Vehicles, the members of which all have the same problem, seems to be that each case should be examined on its merits. "Safety Critical" items are unlikely to be provided to the USA and Canada but non-safety critical spares or where there is a paper trail back to a reputable manufacturer then it is quite feasible that spares may be supplied. For example, I see no reason why transfers could not be supplied.
