I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Including 7/32-33 thread adjuster screw (part #4360-1), and jam nut (part #h76).

The tappet is machined from 9310 nickle alloy, case hardened to 0.040" depth. The shank is center-less ground and the head is lapped on the face and sides.

The adjuster screw and jam nut are CNC machined from shock resistant S7 tool steel, vacuum heat treated and then air tempered to HRc57.

Fully interchangeable with the original, including the special 7/23-33 Douglas threads.

So if the ends of your tappets look like this:

Or the stems are worn and scored, or someone has tried to tap the adjuster thread to a new size and made it sloppy, then here is your chance to replace it.

Cost is $100US per tappet, adjuster screw and jam nut included. Packing, postage, and insurance at cost.

Doug

Jeff,

(4) tappets with adjuster screw and jam nut would be US$340.

Postage options to Sydney, Australia are:
Priority Mail International, Small Flat Rate Box (free), 6-10 days, online delivery confirmation, US$24.75
First Class Small Package, padded envelope (US$2), no delivery estimate given, no delivery confirmation, US$16.90

The online postage calculator is not displaying the insurance options, so I am not sure what to add for that, but it would be at cost like the postage. I have been shipping the tappets in padded parcel envelopes, and they seem to be arriving undamaged. I also place them in a zip-loc plastic bag to protect them from possible damp.
