I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Can anyone tell me whether the wheel hubs on a1914  2,3/4   350cc bike should have the douglas stamp or just be plain, thanks Bob

Doug

Bob,

Veteran Douglas models used hubs purchased from Chater Lea. I have seen several dates mentioned here on the forum as to when they changed over to manufacture of their own hubs; from 1912 to 1914. Someone might be willing to put a more definite date on it, but it might be another one of those Kingswood examples of where they used up older pattern stock on the cheaper 2-3/4hp models. A second topic would be whether Douglas hubs from c1914 had their name engraved, or if that came later on.

The 1914 3 1/2hp I own has hubs with Douglas stamped in them - and the bike was so complete when first found and restored that I am sure they are the original wheels. But like you say Doug, I've no doubt the works used up whatever stock was at hand

Thanks for your replies, looks like I can use either. Bob
