I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

I am looking for a sump for a 1923 douglas RA 500 OHV. To copy or purchase can anyone help me?

Doug

MJW,

Can help with a drawing of the center casting, but not the end chambers or any of the hardware.  Possibly a few pictures of the sump too.

What about the ex Freddie Dixon banking sidecar outfit owned by the late Bob Thomas, does it not have the sump fitted. Last I heard it was on display at Beaulieu.
I would think most of the RA's finished up in Australia, they certainly got lots of mentions in the speedway programmes of the day (I have them going back to 1925 at Maitland) together with modified OB's and S1's.
Would love a phot of the RA at some time!

Doug

Dirt Track,

It is still there, as of two months ago.

Point to note is only the sidecar chassis is from the original Freddie Dixon banking sidecar that won the 1923 sidecar TT.  The sidecar body is a replica and the motorcycle itself, though 1923 RA, is not the one that Freddie rode.  But it is nearly identical.
