I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

I have a small collection of parts available for a late twenties EW. These include a tank, magneto, pair of wheels, engine and gearbox.
I also have a tank for a '30s Douglas, though I'm not certain of the model.
I will put them up for sale on ebay soon, but I offer them to the group first. I am happy to email photos if anybody is interested. I am in the UK.

Hi,
Can you tell me if the EW tank is still for sale?
Is it for a 350 and is it the type that fits between the frame rails?
Does it have the gear selector running through the tank?
What condition is it in/any photos?
Do you have any front forks?
Many thanks

Tom

Stuart,

I have an EW frame which is in need of the bits you list so would be interested in the lot.  Will provide an email address via PM, which I would appreciate if you could post any available pictures to.  Have several '30s Dougies, so might be able to identify the petrol tank.

Thanks,

Doug

Hi Tom,
Yes, I still have the tank (Funny, the add had been there for quite a while and now I have two replies within a couple of hours.)
It is a tank for a 350. It is the type that fits between the tank rails. It has the slot right through it for the gear lever. It comes complete with a geachange gate, but no oil pump or filler caps I'm afraid.

It is in generally sound condition. The base is very good, the sides are sound, but with rust pitting. The top has a small dent (looks like something has fallen on it some time in the last eighty years!) and the rust has gone through at the corner for around half an inch or so. In other words, it needs some work, but it is a good solid tank which doesn't leak.

If you give me your email address, I will send some photos.

Best regards,

Stuart

Hi Stuart,
I know what you mean.
It is like waiting for a bus and then three turn up all at once!!
I have posted things on this web site before the format changed and then with summer hols etc have not been on for some time.
Just trying to get the hang of the format.
I could be interested in the other bits for EW, but it is the tank I really need.
It sounds from your description that it is correct for my machine.
I am based in Huddersfield West Yorkshire and am not far from you.
Can we arrange to meet up, I can come over an see you.
I have sent you an e-mail with my mail address for the pictures.
Please let me know if it arrives OK.
Regards

Tom
