I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

hello all I have got a few bikes now but these two fuel tanks have got me stuck , any ideas .

yours carl.

Yes Carl,

As there is no oil tank we can assume that the relevant motor has a sump. So we can then assume that the tanks were from the 3 1/2 or 4 hp models being 500 and 600 cc with twin front down tube frames. If you look through your bits at the motors both valves are on top of the cylinders.

The edges of the earlier tanks have a sharp bend from top to sides but the later ones have a radius bend.

Thats the way I see it.  regards Alan

hello Alan

thank you so much was just looking at a photo of a 1924 model B and that's one of the tanks and the other I just found on a 1914 model bike , it makes my job a lot easier when I have access to a site like this and such a wealth of knowledge .

yours carl.
