1926 TT Douglas and other rare Douglases - almost all gone

An elderly friend has a number of Douglases for which he'd like to find new homes. The restored bikes are:
a  c1926 TT "IoM Model" Douglas
a  c1924 OB Douglas
a c1930 SW5/road-equipped DT5
a 1914/15 2 3/4 Douglas

In addition, there is an almost complete DT-based road-going "special" fitted with a Sturmey Archer gearbox which is almost ready to run, and around three project bikes: an OC and two DT5/SW5 style machines. That should be enough to cater for demand? All of these bikes will likely be disposed of over the next year or so.

The TT is the star of the collection, and we'll try to find a home for that first. The process will be by "expression of interest" with a closing date of 31 May 2013. (This means we miss the advertising deadline for the next LDC magazine - please pass this info on to anyone who might be interested.)

In summary: this could be your opportunity to acquire a truly iconic sporting Douglas of the mid-1920s. No desperate rush (advertisements will be placed elsewhere) but start thinking about it now. An indicative price would be A$50,000+.

I mentioned in my original post that we'd like expressions of interest by today, but given that I've been flat out finding a home for one of the cars (now done) I'm prepared to extend the deadline a little if that helps. Please note, however, that the bike will now be sold when the owner and family choose to accept an offer.

Moving on with the process of finding homes for the cars and bikes in Jack's collection: half a dozen or so of the bikes (including the veteran Douglas) and one of the cars have moved on recently.

In addition to the restored bikes, there are three "projects" that need homes: an SW5, a DT5 and an OB - see https://www.douglasmotorcycles.net/index.php?topic=4954.0 . There is some flexibility about how these are built up and sold. I'm happy to listen to proposals and offers for these.

Due to an unexpected withdrawal, the TT Douglas is still available. It will be advertised widely this week.

I'm still happy to listen to proposals and offers for these, but please do it soon as I'm keen to get these sorted out as soon as I can. Note that there is the better part of a TT motor and TT gearbox that could be incorporated into one of these projects.

Re the three OHV Douglas projects https://www.douglasmotorcycles.net/index.php?topic=4954.0 .

The DT5 project has been sold to two very happy forum members, and discussions are advanced re the OC project.

The third project will be an SW5, built up from period parts including the "double stamped" engine https://www.douglasmotorcycles.net/index.php?topic=4867.0 . The motor was acquired 20-odd years ago in the condition it is seen now; the interior condition is unknown. Because of the spares available in the collection, any major engine part that is damaged (beyond normal wear and tear) can be exchanged for a useable part if one can be found (very likely). There will be an appropriate gearbox, two-into-one exhaust, most likely a complete flywheel clutch (if not complete, there should be most parts of a clutch), plus frame, forks, handlebars and wheels. The parts seem to be good solid metal - no rusty rubbish! The wheels will have Douglas splined hubs with internal-expanding "servo" drum brakes. Rims will likely be wired-on, but if anyone is desperate for 28x2 1/2 BE it's possible that rims might be available. We should be able to do a seat approximating the original style. There is no petrol/oil tank (although appropriate fittings may be available), and for the moment I can't come up with a gear lever and quadrant. No mudguards. Will search for footrests and brake pedal.

This project should have the makings of a very good late 1920s road-going racy Douglas, which will be very close to correct SW5 specification. It will be the last of the OHV "project bikes" from the shed. Happy to listen to serious offers.
