I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Dirt Track

Hi again
I forgot to mention a friend of mine in Sydney has a Douglas machine for sale, not complete.
It is a bike that came out of a very big collection of racing bikes recently discovered, a number of racing Douglas's included.
All of the recently found racing Douggies that have seen the light of day for the first time in decades are what you would have to say are bitsa's!
That is they are a mix of OB,RA,DT,IOM & SW models.
Most of these bikes were purchased by Paddy Ryan as a job lot many years ago and Paddy was selling them off at £38.10 each. Paddy had bought them from a Speedway Promoter from Newcastle, not all Douglas's......Rudge and Jap were there too.
I would imagine they were chopped and changed around to keep them on the track...if an engine blew up another spare would be fitted and off it went.
Anyone interested to see a couple of photos of the sale bike please email me direct on    flattank@bigpond.com
