Title: Throttle lever friction adjustment

Hi all,

I have an operating/adjustment question regarding the throttle lever on my 1926 EW.

Could you please advise how Douglas intended the throttle friction to operate?

Was the throttle designed to return to idle under spring tension when the rider's hand is off the throttle or should it be set to hold position? - an early form of cruise control!

Was it a matter for operator preference or did the manufacturer have a recommendation?

Simon,

You tighten the friction adjustment so that it holds the lever position. Operators probably had a preference as to how stiff or free the action was, but I think it was a general convention for lever action throttles of that time. Hence Douglas never saw fit to comment on it.
