Title: 1927 EW 350cc Gearbox
Post by: tritonyabby on 27 Nov 2013 at 11:55
Hi all. New to the forum and hoping you can help. As I'm not a douglas man, sorry all, but need some input for how much I would sell a 1927 EW 350cc gearbox for(RG\B15047). I have a possible buyer but no idea what its worth. Its not seized, has selector and kick starter,  possibly missing spring? see last photo, and has sprockets attached as can be seen in photos, and is in relatively good condition.
Would really appreciate your help.

The outer sprocket is a foreign add on however mostly the kickstart is missing from these boxes and the big chain wheel is normally worn out. The return spring can easily be made from a mower recoil starter spring. What you have should a least be worth around A$ 200. Maybe more ????????????

Thanks for that Alan. It's sat in the shed here for about 23yrs and an old blokes shed for a lot of years before that. Haven't cracked it open but it can actually still select a gear.
Appreciate your comment. Any other input welcome

It is a 1925-26 gearbox. In 1927 the mounting of the gearbox changed to clamp around the frame tubes. The earlier gearbox sat on a platform, such as the one you show.
