Title: EW Induction Pipe

Can anybody give me a useful tip about how to effectively seal the induction pipe to the cylinder head on my EW?

I have tried using exhaust paste, which seems pretty good to begin with, but after a while we are back to difficult starting, poor idling, and running on one cylinder again. I can't believe I am the only one who has had this problem. How does everyone else fix it?

You want gland packing cord, 1/8" diameter or less should do it. In this situation it does not matter if it is graphite impregnated variety or not. I have also seen Teflon impregnated cord, which should also work in a pinch, but Teflon does tend to cold flow and may extrude up into the gland threads over a period of time. Put a few turns under the sheet metal ring on the induction pipe. The cord is forced down into the countersunk i.d. of the inlet port by the gland nut, wedging it against the intake tube.

A couple of heat-resistant silicon o-rings might work too.
