Title: BTH Ammeter and Head light early 30’s
Post by: vincenttwin on 07 Oct 2025 at 16:10
Could some one take a photo of the BTH ammeter ,and one with a ruler on it so I can get the size of the face plate ( maybe 1.98") as I plan on getting some face plates
Silkscreened .
Also a few clear photos of the BTH with Powell & Hanmer  headlight
Brass plaque  as I think I have found a person to make them .
Thanks for your help.

Hi Peter
The OD of the S/T6 ammeter face is  1.54", or 39.25 mm if you prefer!,  and the OD of the BTH logo on headlamp is 0.950", or 24.15 mm.   The logo should be a thin plated brass pressing, secured by a tiny rivet in the middle, but the one in the photo is a lost wax casting of the same dimensions.

I'll bite - what is the connection between BTH and Powell and Hanmer.  ?

Or is the connection that they were both used on Douglas motorcycles,  at times ??
Jist curious.

Thanks perfect ,  I will let you know if I get get them made .
My plan for the 1934 HRD Python is
To use the early Lucas headlight shell
And replicate the  bth .parts as the real shell is like gold dust .

Powell & Hanmer were makers of lights and lighting equipment from the turn of the century.  They were very prolific in making acetylene lighting.  Second only to Lucas.

Hello Peter,

With the help from many others on from the forum, I've made up some BTH medallions. You may still need to do some final finishing but I think they are fairly accurate and nice. let me know if you maybe interested. I'd also be interested in hearing your plans for manufacture.
