Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Hello,

on the place of the registration number of this Douglas is written - 600cc B/22. I see that is 4hp model. But if this B/22 mean model B22? Is it possible to be dated from what year is made? Thank you in advanced.

Best regards
Valentin

Dave

Can anyone help Valentin with identifying this Douglas?

He is also looking for a good photo of the same model from a catalog or magazine if anyone has one available.

thanks, Dave

Doug

Valentin,

Yes it is a B/22. For 1922 they seem to have dropped using the "B" designation in most advertising, but they had been using it as recently as the B/21. The A & B designation for the 3-1/2hp started in 1914 and carried over into the 4hp models. See timeline here:

In 1922 it seems to have generally been referred to in advertising as just the 4hp, but might have started out being called the B/22 in continuation from the previous year.

There is a 1923 4hp in the Photo Galley that would be very similar-

Thank you very much Doug. Very detailed and useful explanation.

The 4hp Dougie from 1923 into the gallery is absolutely stunning.  I need image from brochure or catalogue of 1920-1924 4hp. If you have some good image? Once again thanks for the identification.

Best regards
Valentin

From the 1922 catalog.
