T35 MK1
« on: 06 Oct 2014 at 15:46 »
I have been having trouble with starting my T35, at first it stopped on the road and I put it down to the mag breaking down .
So I had it rewound , and have been trying to get it going but when it does start ( which is a job ) it runs on the offside only
And bangs out of the carb , I have tested the compression and its 70 psi , is this OK?. I have timed it by the book but am not sure I have it right .
Has anyone any idea , as when I restored it 18 years a go I kicked it twice and it went , but now its beat me .

Hi Mick,

I think it is an ignition problem (or too less petrol on the right carb).

Do you have checked the brushes of the pickups for cleaness and good contact? Do you see a spark on both cables? Try other sparkplugs to find the mistake.

Please check all things to find out.

Best wishes
Michael

Thanks for your reply, like you I think its a ignition problem as there's plenty of fuel .
when I get time I will go all through it again.

Mick,
Don't forget the Mark series machines (unlike most British bikes) have the mag set up for tight wire advance, so make sure the advance/retard lever is pulled round to the stop before timing up the mag.
  Regards,
               Eddie.
