Title: 1912-1913 Turpins Motorcycles Photographs

Here are a few photos which have recently come my way taken in 1912/13. The dealer was Turpins Motorcycles in Brighton. The 2 3/4 HP in the showroom has a registration number CD 22??, but you can't see the last two numbers. In the Club Register a 2 3/4 HP is listed with registration number CD 22?? so could well be the same bike.

Lovely Roy - thanks for posting. I particularly like the 1912 Lady's Model, with its bolt-on inlet manifold and skinny tyres.

Re the dates: The middle photo shows mosty pre-WW1 bikes from Douglas, Scott, Clyno, Rudge and others, but one of the bikes in the top photo is a Ricardo Triumph (four overhead valves), so we must be in the early 1920s.

Great photos Roy

Seeing the price of the Scott, it is amazing that many motorbikes in that era sold at all - at 65 pounds that would be a year's wages for an average man in the UK! I know the first 3 1/2hp Douglas in 1913 was the same price
