Mark Four crankshaft rebuild

Thanks personally to Eddie for creating the recipe that I used to rebuild my crankshaft.
I went to Butler engineering in Bathurst and spoke to Pete Butler about having a go at making new pins and machining the big eye and putting in a hardened steel insert. This approach was my idea of using the original alloy bearing cages and buying 48 new 1/4x1/4 rollers.
After the pregnant pause during our conversation I left and came back with the Eddie pdf rebuilding post war crankshafts.
This will work out cheaper and give a better result declared Pete. I have the en36 steel here and while nobody here does the case hardening I have a friend in Sydney that will do it for me. I sourced two RNA 49/28 bearings at Statewide Bearings in Smithfield. I delivered the complete separated crankshaft, new bearings and the original rods on Monday morning and picked up the finished work on Friday of the same week. Now it is back to Steve Bayliss in Bathurst who did detailed drawings and measurements prior to splitting the crank for re assembly and balancing this week. I will have it back in my shed this Thursday coming.

what was done to the bore of the conrod to fit the outer ring of the new bearing?

Sorry for the late reply, that was perhaps the job that the machinist had the most issue with as the conrod was super hard. It was ground is all I can tell you.
