Douglas' In Australia
« on: 07 Apr 2006 at 03:36 »
I was wondering if anyone has any idea ( roughly) of the amount of 1915-1925 Douglas' there are in Australia . I ask as I'm wondering how foolhardy I am to think of buying one in the near future .I have been looking for a while . Do they come up for sale often or is it a rarity that one might appear?
Thanks for your time

cheers Michael

Hi Michael. It is difficult to be precise but judging by the number of spares parts sold by The London Douglas MCC to members in Australia there must be more old Douglas machines in Australia than in any other country apart from the UK. Many of these are currently being restored. Douglas models, especially the very popular 2.3/4 hp machines, come up for sale quite regularly and often in as found condition needing restoration. There is an excellent example on eBay at present. It has been the subject of discussion on the Forum. Chris.
