Hi Veikko,
The early 'Plus' series machines had the finned exhaust cooling rings, but it was found that the disturbed air flow over the heads actually caused the engine to run hotter. The later plain rings permitted smoother air flow and improved the heat dissipation.

   Hope this helps,
                            Regards,
                                         Eddie.

Hi Veikko,

do you have no exaust pipe rings (plain or finned)?
I think the very early X 90 /80+ models have had also only plain rings. I can measure a plain exaust ring if you want. May be it is easier to reproduce.

Thanks your answers Eddie and Michael. I have engine number X90/50, and "story tells" that bike have been with finned rings when it come to Finland, new, but now them are missing. Yes, I have same means, that plain type are easier made, and cooling are better, (finned only looks better). So it would be fine, if you can take some measures, Michael.

Regards Veikko
