ew 350 seat front mount
« on: 20 Apr 2020 at 06:21 »

Hi,
can anyone out there tell me what the bolt spacing and hole diameter is for the ew 350 seat front mount thats on the top tube? Someone has cut mine off and the clamp plate is missing.

The bolts are 1 & 5/8 c-to-c.
I'm not sure what the size is, but they are small.
I'll tell you when I get these off, if someone doesn't chime in before.
The seat strap is 1" as you probably know.

This all looked a bit shabby when I tried to photo it, so you can probably smell the enamel drying !
I also remember now my seat strap needs welding, you can't see the wire wrapping holding it together...

Thats great, thanks for that, I can get to work on making a new bracket and clamp now. the bolt hole diameter would be great if you can.

The bolts turned out to be a pair of (rather mismatched) hex 1/4"  bolts and nuts.

One was a rather long 1/4" whitworth bolt and nut, and the other a fine thread shorter bolt with nut.
I haven't quite got the shorter one off yet, it needs to soak - the hexs are rather weak, so not easy to get hold of.

The plate on the frame and the clamp plate are both quite thin, so it won't need much of a bolt and nut to retain them.
You may be able to just see the plate on the frame tube turns down front and back, and is profiled to fit onto the curved frame tube.
And then brazed (?) there.

The second pic is great, I can see the profile of the clamp really well, thanks. I have had to do some other repairs and they were brazed to the frame, so I will do the same with this bracket as well. I would guess that the holes are 5/32 in diameter?
