On the Dragonfly, there were early and late type gearboxes, and the kickstart shafts were different. Only SA796 was listed in the spare parts book, but the other one was part number SA1826. On the early gearbox, the oil filler plug was set too low, so an adaptor was fitted to raise the level about 1/2". On the later 'boxes the boss for the filler plug was raised and moulded into the front of the boss for the kickstart. This also had the effect of bracing the kicksart boss - thus preventing fractures that were not uncommon on the earlier 'boxes.
If you just quoted the number in the spares book, you may have requested the wrong part - quoting the gearbox number would help the spares department in selecting the correct shaft.
