Saddle fixing on MK1

Hi,

I´m working on an early MK1 and wonder about the saddle bracket on the frame.
Is the "extra tube" original or has someone modified the fixing point for the saddle?

Not seen that before! looks like an addition. Some people can find the nose of the saddle a little low, so I think someone has added the tube. I'm sure you'll get a more authoritative answer!
