EW 350 crankshaft endfloat
« on: 26 Feb 2016 at 20:50 »
Hello to all
I seem to have excessive crankshaft end float on my EW 350 RESTO,which effects correct clutch operation
without having bottom end apart,is there any type of thrust washer internally
that could possible be at fault, worn etc, causing clearance to be excessive.

There is no thrust washer. Sounds like an oil slinger was left off the timing or flywheel side (shield between crankshaft and bearings). These are about 0.030 inch each, so absence would result in a lot of clearance! Also when fitting up, the factory would have shimmed between the bearings and the crankcase to limit the end clearance.

EW 350 CRANKSHAFT ENDFLOAT

Hello all.
I have dismantled engine & removed crank assembly,no signs of any oil slingers either side of
crankshaft, parts listing for 1927,26 ew states three oil slingers in crank group, should there be one either side of crank between bearing and crankshaft and possibly another on flywheel side to achieve correct position of crank,i believe at around 30 thou as stated previously by Doug.
