EW 350 valve guides
« on: 16 Feb 2010 at 18:22 »
Hi all,
Having reached the barrel part of the rebuild I have decided, with the advice of the forum members thank you, to go down the Honda piston route and duly delivered the barrels, Pistons, Guides and valves to Hartlen Engineering. My local, trusted, engineering shop for re-sleeveing and new guides. My qustion is this; What is the OD of that part of the guide which enters the hole in the barrel? The holes in my barrels are in the 0.5" area yet the guides from the LDMCC are 0.485". There is no evidence of machining or reaming in the barrels and the guides that came out appear to be Douglas iron guides. Are the guides undersize or are my barrels oversize?
Cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew
The valve guides should be .500 OD have just measured on of my spares . sounds like the ones you have are under size.
Hope this helps

Clive

Thanks Clive.
I think these guides will be winging their way back to the LDMCC.
