Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Hi, I've just been going through a random box of bits that were delivered with my Model Z project. To my surprise stuck under the flap of a cardboard box was a front number plate "GF 5656". I bought my Z by the pallet load from a person in Denmark where I believe it had been, laying fully dismantled  for at least 45 years. I was therefore even more surprised to find out, after contacting the UK DVLA to find it was in fact not just from a Douglas but one the was recorded as a still active 1930 Douglas, model not shown.

If the owner wants a souvenir of the origins of their bike, unless it was reissued as an age related plate, please reply and Ill sort it out for you.

According to DVLA still on a 1930 douglas and taxed.

Sorry about the delay in responding to your comment, I know that the plate is registered and taxed which is what I meant when I said still active. The DVLA also shows that the bike was first issued with this number in April 1992 though it possibly changed hands in July 2019. All this makes me think that it was issued with an age related registration number in 92.
