Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

I do know that ' Douglas Club post war spares ' has a very good pair of matched std pistons and Barrels . They look as new.
The barrels are the stationary ones with the extra fin at the base . Motorcycle ones have one less fin. This would cut out reboring cylinders ?

I have a pair of domed  NOS  T35 pistons +60 complete with all rings fitted and gapped. They are unused. Just getting rings for your reworked pistons will stretch your budget, reboring to +60 would be an easy option. A reasonable offer plus postage and they are yours.

Best regards
Hi there
Thanks much for the offer. As it happens, the machining has been done, and the rings had already been ordered.

Your pistons might yet see a role, depending on what we find inside the FT35 that has been in a Scottish basement for 80+ years, and also, I have to ask the colleagues if they want to do anything with it. That would not be a trivial project!

I have not yet figured out how to send PM message on this forum :(

2 x Plus for Sale

It's time for these 1951 Douglas Plus to find a new home (ideally together – but happy to separate).

Both are set up as clubman racers, previously by a family member, with alloy engines, Lucas competition mag, alloy wheel rims, oil breather catch bottle, Smiths Chronometric Rev Counter, Smiths Chronometric Speedo (80 only).  The 80 has additional rear suspension dampers and the 90 has NJB Racing Shocks, period modifications from when the family member raced Douglas in the 1950's.
I have V5C to hand and in my name for the 80, for 90 I have a "buff logbook" from the 1970's (Green VE60 document)
Items not shown, but included.
80  - Toolboxes, Centre stand, Rear number plate
90 – Toolboxes, Torsion bars and linkages

Collection ONLY - Located in West Berkshire.  If you are interested please PM me for more details.

Regards, Simon

I would recommend searching for a later 3-pin type clutch from a F/31-G/31 or '32 or the OW/OW1 models of 1934-35. Besides having three drive pins for the pressure plate verses two, you can separate the clutch disk from the backing plate. On the SW5 clutch (2-pin) type you have to un-rivet the sprocket to separate, as the hole in the backing plate is too small to allow it to pass through.

I do have drawings for the later 3-pin type if you decide to go the route of manufacturing a new flywheel clutch. I also have an example of the 2-pin type for my SW5, but it has not been drawn up.
