Title: Clutch cam assembly
Post by: dragonmk5 on 10 May 2012 at 14:50
Having rebuilt the engine on my 1950 Mk4 and fitted the clutch actuating mechanism, flywheel and clutch, I was a bit miffed when I found two gaskets which I had removed (from item 6 on plate 14), which were inserted between the rear of the crankcase and item 6.
My rebuild omitted these gaskets, having obtained approx 0.006 clearance (end float)?between c/shaft and c/case by making a shim of suitable thickness, inserted between the back of the spigot and the rear main bearing.  As the bike isn't going anywhere in the near future I have removed the clutch and flywheel in order to pay more attention to the condition of the actuator, so I am in a position to refit a gasket or at least a sealant in order to hopefully oil proof it. I have, of course fitted a new oil seal in the spigot. As the gasket is not shown on plate 14, do I have an oddball assembly?  Any info / comments, gratefully received.
