Fast bowler Nathan Bracken took 7-4 as NSW dismissed South Australia for 29 before lunch on the first day of the Pura Cup match at the SCG. Bracken ripped through the visitors, who were all out after just 80 minutes and 14.4 overs.

Five of the Redbacks made ducks - Tom Plant, Mark Cosgrove, Callum Ferguson, Mark Cleary and Shaun Tait.

SA set a record for the most ducks in an innings (six) in the corresponding game last year.

The Redbacks were 9-24 but scrambled past the lowest ever Sheffield Shield/Pura Cup score of 27, set by SA against NSW at the SCG in 1955/56.

Bracken's new-ball partner Matthew Nicholson chipped in with 1-13 from five overs and Stuart Clark, who took 5-10 last week against Victoria, came on late to have 2-10 from his 2.4 overs.

None of the Redbacks batsmen reached double figures, with No.4 Nathan Adcock the highest scorer with eight.
