B29 Front Chainguard

My B29 does not have anything covering the clutch sprocket and chain area as shown in the picture, should there be some sort of guard there?

I did not see it in any photo.  Maybe I was not clear, I do have a chain guard (picture attached) but was wondering if there was any part that wrapped around the clutch sprocket in front as shown in the photo in my first message.

There is a holder srewed on the engine for fixing the front of the chainguard to the engine.
Do you have this?

I will try to find / make a photo for you.

Have found a Photo.

Do you have this part for your B29?

Hi Mark

My 29 600 has the remnants of a front sprocket cover and I have a copy of the factory drawing for a 600cc cover it might be similar to a B29.

Ta Daren

I have a 1930 H3, nearly similar to the B29, but a heavier flywheel on the engine (ER type engine instead of EN).
On my bike is no front part fitted to the primary drive.
I have thought it is original, but may be, it is missing?

Michael, I do have the bracket you took a photo of, and I currently have the main chain guard fitted.  It just seemed odd that the clutch sprocket area did not have anything covering it on my bike.  The leading edge of the primary chain being exposed to the elements just does not seem right to me.  Daren, that drawing looks like what I was hoping to find, now whether or not that is appropriate for the B29 remains to be seen.

I really appreciate all the help with this!

Daren, I checked the dimensions on the drawing and the clearance on my bike, and it would not fit.  However I went ahead and made something similar and it works nicely.  The engine and front of the bike stays cleaner, and I believe the chain will stay cleaner too.  It's hard to take a picture of it, but attached is a photo of the guard in place.

Thanks all for the help.
