1945 torsion bar frame

I came across this in Motor Cycling, 22 March, 1945. Did this design ever make it into metal?

This looks like the frame referred to in Douglas Patent No. GB558387 dated 20th March 1942. ( Note - the swinging arm pivots on the gearbox output shaft!).

Yep, that's the one - applied for in 1942 but not granted until 1944. So was one built?
