Crank Counterweights, Fe -> Al pistons
« on: 04 Nov 2011 at 18:26 »
Hello,

I am in the process of installing JP aluminum pistons on my TS-24 and was wondering if it is worth worrying about the counterweights on the crankshaft.  In theory, they should be lightened to compensate for the lighter pistons, but in reality, does it make any noticeable difference?  I note that the early 2-3/4 H.P. engines and VW engines do not have any counterweights at all so they must not be vital to the boxer configuration.

Thanks,
