Hello
I am researching a Douglas once owned by my late father in law, having found the log book for the Douglas amongst old documents. I want to try and identify which Douglas he owned.
The log book has the first registration as 23/05/1925 and the number plate as XY7733
The model as GW and possibly 125 after the GW but that’s not too clear. The frame number was
CF4553 and the engine number 80860.
He lived in Dalston and bought the bike in August 1926. I have no information on what happened to the bike but as we still have the log book maybe something unfortunate happened to it. Two years after buying the Douglas he bought a GN Legere two seater car and I think that was it for him and motorcycles as he trained as radio engineer and always had cars from then on.
I look forward to any thoughts anyone has. Thanks. Richard

Richard,
Going by the frame and engine numbers, your father in law's bike would have been a 1925 Douglas 2¾HP Model CW. Whilst known as a 2¾HP machine, the engine size was actually 348cc. I have looked in the London Douglas Motorcycle club machine register and it is not listed, so presumably no longer exists.
Regards,
Eddie.

Hello Eddie, Thanks for the Information on the Douglas. I can now get an idea of what it looked like.
As we had the log book I did think the bike had probably been crashed or badly damaged. Hopefully I will get to see one in the flesh on the club stand at one of the shows.
All the best
Richard
