Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

The Australian Douglas Centenary Rally is now only six months away and the organising committee has been hard at work ensuring we have everything planned.

Entries
In the last month or so we published the final entry form on the rally web site http://www.douglasmotorcycles.net/austcentenaryrally/entry.html. The entries are gradually coming in but we would appreciate it if you could send yours in as soon as possible so we get a better idea of final numbers. As this rally is a "one-off" we do not have any history to go by to predict entry numbers. At this stage we have 25 which is probably not too bad with six months to go. Our aim is to have over 50.
The range of machines entered is really quite exciting - with everything from earliest veterans through to the late post war machines. Some machines of note include a Fairy, several OHV mid 20's machines, a mid 30s 750cc and an Endeavour. We have entries so far from Australia, UK and USA.

Runs
The runs have been surveyed - for those who want to have a look on the map the basic details are listed here :
Wednesday 18 April - Moss Vale through Bundanoon to Penrose for morning tea. We then take a winding way to Mittagong for lunch and return to Moss Vale
Thursday 19 April - Moss Vale through Hill Top, Thirlmere, Picton and to Douglas Park for morning tea and a 100th birthday cake. Off to my property at The Oaks via Camden for lunch and then return to Moss Vale via Bargo.
Friday 20th April - Moss Vale to Fitzroy Falls via Exeter for morning tea, to Robertson Pie Shop for lunch then return to Moss Vale via Kangaloon
Saturday 21 April is a short morning run to Canyonleigh

Social
We only have one formal social event during the rally which is the formal dinner on the Friday night. This is to be held at the Moss Vale Services Club. In addition, morning teas are provided as part of the rally entry and there will be informal BBQs on the Tuesday evening and after the last run.
Lunches will be "pay as you go" - Mittagong RSL club bistro on day 1, sausage sizzle on day 2 and well known pie shop on day 3.

Other
We have regalia such as caps and shirts available but these must be ordered when you enter. We do not intend on carrying any stock.
Accommodation at the rally hub - Moss Vale Caravan Park - will book out quickly so make sure you give them a call soon. There is plenty of other accommodation available but there is nothing quite like staying at the hub !!
Another "Rally News" will be published in about three months time.

Just a query regarding the saturday, Is there a proposed exibition of all the machines planned for the final day, if so where & when will this take place

I was hoping to bring my 1930 T6, but is currently undergoing major surgery & will not recover in time

I would also be interested in purchasing some clothing etc please advise if this is possible for non starters

thanks john bastin

John,
Unfortunately the rally program has Saturday as the last day and is a morning ride only - we planned it this way so that people who travelled a long way could start their trip home. You could have a look at the bikes as they leave in the morning (depart 09:30) and when they return but will not be on display as such. All other days have opportunities to view the bikes. The main display is at Mittagong RSL on the Wednesday lunchtime and we will also have displays of the static machines after the runs most days.

For purchases of shirts, etc we are actually placing the order today - if you want something please send an email through to the adcr email address and we will see if we can fit them in. Alwyn will respond to let you know. .... Ian
