Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Hi all,

The Australian Douglas Centenary Rally is now less than a year away. The Planning Committee advises that Rally planning is proceeding to schedule. Whilst details are yet to be fine-tuned it is considered timely that we provide intending participants and other interested persons an outline of plans so far as they have been determined at this stage.  The Rally dates and venue have been determined and are as previously announced. Other information given in the summary below is indicative and subject to confirmation at a later stage.

  • The event will be held from Wednesday 18 to Saturday 21 April 2007, both days inclusive.
  • The venue is Moss Vale in New South Wales.
  • The administration and assembly point will be the Moss Vale Village Caravan Park, situated in Willow Drive, Moss Vale.
  • Full day runs are being arranged for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be a final run on the Saturday morning.
  • An informal B-b-Q will be provided at the caravan park in the evening for entrants arriving on the Tuesday preceding the rally.
  • A more formal dinner for entrants and their guests is to be held on the Friday night. This will be included on the entry form as an option to be ordered and paid for at a rate per head at the time of registration.
  • An informal farewell B-b-Q will be provided after the run on the Saturday. The cost of this will be included in the registration fee.
  • Lunch stopovers will occur at predetermined venues along the run routes during the all-day runs. Lunches will be BYO or bought and paid for separately at the selected venues by the entrants.
  • Morning teas will be provided during each run day. The cost of these will be included in the registration fee.
  • A special 100th birthday celebration is to be held at Douglas Park during the run on the Thursday. The cost of this will be included in the registration fee.
  • Commemorative badges are to be supplied independently and free of cost by the London Douglas Motorcycle Club to its own members. Similar badges will be made available for non-LDMCC member rally entrants. This will be included on the entry form as an option to be ordered and paid for at the time of registration.
  • Rally shirts with embroidered logos will be available. These will be included on the entry form as an option to be ordered and paid for at the time of registration. Multiple orders will be accepted.
  • Similarly embroidered caps will be provided for all rally entrants. The cost of these (one per entrant) will be included in the registration fee. An option to buy additional caps will be included on the Entry Form.
  • It is not possible to be accurate with the final entry fee at this stage. Without commitment, it is expected that the fee will lie in the range $A60.00 to $A75.00. All efforts are being made to keep the fee within or below this budget.

If you wish to make comment concerning any of the above or make any suggestions about Rally events please do so by sending an e-mail to the Planning Committee at this address adcr@douglasmotorcycles.net
