S6 throttle / twistgrip
« on: 20 May 2013 at 22:08 »
Hi all. Can anyone help with a picture or drawing showing the parts used on a straight pull throttle assembly.
I have acquired some old parts [believed to be for an S6] and need to make a complete unit.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks, Colin.

Hi , the item you have bought on Ebay is indeed a straight pull for an S6,but it seems that a piece is broken of , this piece is necessairy to secure it to the handlebar.I will try to post some close-up pictures next time ( showing the part missing )I think (for what i can make out of the picture) that all the parts are there ,except for the brokenof part( can possibly been repared 'aluminium'?).The straight pull is a Douglas special build for the S6 ( can be used as cruisecontrol )

Regards,
Sven

Doug's drawing is the AMAL type - used by BSA and likely many others from 1930 on.

Hi Sven. Thanks very much for the close-up pictures., they are a great help. I can now try and fabricate the missing parts.
I bought it hoping that I could make something usable to fit my 1935 Comet 250 that I am building.
I have some pictures showing the same type of throttle fitted to a Comet, but thought it was an aftermarket one.
Thanks again for your help, this forum is the best.
Best regards, Colin.
